Ma — The Beauty Between

Beauty resides in the relationships that arise "between" objects. We call this invisible space, this rich silence "ma." It is not a space that is "empty," but rather a space "full of possibility." The shapes that Comma creates do not assert themselves, but are quiet tools that bring this "ma" into space.

Zen — Being in This Moment

Zen, before referring to a specific religion, is a state of mind. It is the act of calming the waves of thought and focusing solely on the sensations of the present moment. It is the spirit of discovering the universe in everyday actions, such as carefully brewing a cup of tea or gazing at the particles of light streaming in through a window.

For Comma, Zen resides in the handiwork of artisans. The slight fluctuation that remains in the shape is the very breath of the artisan at that moment.
